Prayer Shawls

     The love and care of our congregation reaches out in many ways.  One of the most personal is our Prayer Shawl program.  Each shawl is made especially for the person in need, with the much love and prayer.  Prayer Shawls are given to provide comfort and solace, and to be a reminder of God's encircling love and peace.

"Shawls ...  for centuries universal and embracing, symbolic of an inclusive, unconditionally loving, God. They wrap, enfold, comfort, cover, give solace, mother, hug, shelter and beautify. Each Shawl is blessed with this prayer:

     Almighty God, you are the source of health and healing, the spirit of
     calm and the center of peace in the universe.  Thank you, God, for the
     many people who help us.  We ask that you fill us with the awareness
     of your presence.  God, please keep us in your protecting care through
     pain, weariness, and anxiety.  God, encircle us in your loving grace so
     that we will allow you to fill us with strength and peace,
     through Jesus Christ, our Lord.  AMEN.
